Tips to prevent dry lips

~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:

1.  Loss of moisture in the skin of the lips causes dry chapped lips. It happens due to exposure to sun, cold and dry weather, repeated licking, nutritional deficiency and hormonal imbalances.

2.  Put some aloe vera juice/gel over your lips. Aloe vera helps in maintaining the moisture of the lips.

3.  Apply lip balm regularly to sustain the moisture of the lips before going out. Your lip balm should be unflavored and must have sunscreen.

4.  Dehydration can cause dryness of lips. Have plenty of water during the day. This will make your lips supple and moist.

5.  Make sure you eat a healthy diet and get plenty of vitamins and minerals because vitamin and mineral deficiencies can cause scaling of lips and cracking of lip corners.

6.  Apply coconut oil on your lips during winters because dry lips occur in a dry and cold atmosphere. It will cure dry lips instantly

7.  Don't lick your lips. Saliva evaporates quickly and digests the thin membrane protecting the lips, leaving them drier than before you licked them

8.  Avoid using lipsticks that can dry out your lips. Some brands may lead to chapped and dry lips, so read packaging before a purchase.

9.  Don't smoke as smoking evaporates any natural oils on the lips

10.  Avoid the dry, cold weather that can cause dry lips. Before you go out, coat your lips with a lip balm

11.  Moisturize your lips by drinking additional fluids in the winters.

12.  Try apply fresh butter on dry lips to make them smooth

***10 Ways to Look Younger On A Budget***

10 Ways to Look Younger On A Budget

1. Pump Up Hair's Volume

Switch to mousse
It costs the same as other styling products, but because it contains resins that lightly coat strands to add thickness and lift hair at the root, mousse delivers far more oomph, says Renee Cohen, senior stylist at Serge Normant at the John Frieda Salon in New York City.

Dry hair upside down

To build volume when you blow-dry, work a palm full of mousse from your roots through to the ends, then flip your head over and dry your hair away from the scalp. "Hair should be barely damp before you flip it back up and style it," she says.

Brush in fullness

Using a round brush to style hair builds in more volume. Pick a medium brush (for longer hair) or small (for shorter)—the full circle of bristles will give roots a lift as you blow-dry, brushing in the opposite direction the hair is going to lie. Hook the brush under a 2-inch section of hair at the root, and lift as you roll it through to the ends, all the while following the brush with the dryer. Keep the nozzle above your brush and pointed down to increase shine.

2. Restore Your Locks' Luster

Give yourself a weekly hot-oil treatment

Save a bundle by substituting jojoba oil (find it in natural food stores for about $10) for pricier hair-repair products. "Jojoba has a fine molecular structure that allows it to enter and fill the hair shaft, making it a perfect choice for conditioning," says Paul Labrecque, owner of the New York City–based Paul Labrecque Salon. Spread the oil liberally through dry hair, put on a plastic shower cap, then cover with a hot towel for 30 minutes. Wash it out thoroughly, then rinse with cold water to seal the cuticle and trap added moisture. "When the hair shaft is infused with oil, the cuticle lies flatter, so your hair looks smoother and shinier," he explains.

Keep a cool head

Heat opens hair's protective outer layer, damaging strands and creating frizz. "Frequently cooling the hair while styling helps keep your cuticle flat," says Labrecque. If your dryer has a cool-shot button, use it to deliver a blast of cold air after drying each individual section. (This also helps lock in your new style.) If it doesn't, he suggests holding your style in place with your brush for about 30 seconds to let hair cool off.

3. Reduce Redness

Get milk

Soak a clean washcloth in cold milk and place it over your face for 10 minutes. "Milk contains proteins, fat, amino acids, and vitamin A—all of which reduce redness and calm irritated skin," says David Bank, MD, a dermatologist in Mount Kisco, NY. Bonus: The lactic acid in milk exfoliates, so skin looks soft and glowing.

4. Banish Brown Spots

Camouflage with care

First, dab concealer that's one or two shades lighter than your foundation onto the spot. Use a concealer brush—it'll give more precise coverage than your finger. Follow with a dot of foundation that exactly matches your skin tone. "The concealer lightens the spot, and the foundation helps blend it seamlessly," says New York City–based makeup artist Jessica Liebeskind.

5. Get a Healthy Glow

Replace your makeup wisely

"Switching from powder formulas to creamier ones gives your skin a soft reflective sheen," says Kimara Ahnert, a makeup artist in New York City. Cheeks tend to be drier than your T-zone, so as soon as you use up your powder blush, buy a light liquid or cream formula that imparts a youthful glow instead of leaving skin dull and matte.

6. Plump Thin Lips

Think pink

"Dark or bright colors call attention to the size of your lips, emphasizing thinness and fine lines around your mouth," says Liebeskind. Instead, choose a lipstick that mimics the color of your lips when you were younger.

Define your lips

After applying lipstick, line just at the outer edge of the natural border of your mouth with a pencil in a shade that exactly matches your lipstick. Don't try to draw on a bigger pout—it'll only look fake.

7. Brighten Your Smile

Mix your own whitener

Brushing with a paste made of baking soda and water a few times a month removes superficial staining and whitens teeth by a shade or two. "The graininess neutralizes stains and polishes teeth but isn't abrasive enough to wear down your enamel," says Jennifer Jablow, DDS, a cosmetic dentist in New York City.

Keep teeth whiter, longer

To sidestep stains when drinking red wine, chase your vino with a handful of crunchy raw vegetables. "They have a brushing action that can rub away newly setting stains," says Jablow.

Choose the right lipstick shade

"Colors with blue undertones make teeth appear brighter," explains Liebeskind. To figure out which of your lipsticks fit the bill, she recommends lining up three or four shades—in comparison to each other, it will be more obvious which are blue-based and which have yellow or gold undertones that bring out the yellow in teeth.

8. Minimize Under eye Circles

Be generous with your concealer

"The biggest mistake women make is using too little concealer," says Liebeskind. Start by putting on eye cream—concealer can settle into fine lines of all skin types, especially drier complexions. Then apply a generous layer of concealer from the inner corner of the eye around to the outer corner with a concealer brush. Pat and press the product into the skin to blend. If there's still any darkness visible, apply a second layer. Set the concealer with a dusting of face powder that matches your foundation.

Caffeinate your eyes

Tea bags can perk up tired-looking eyes. "The caffeine helps shrink the underlying dark blood vessels and forces out some of the liquid that creates puffiness," explains Ava Shamban, MD, an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at UCLA. Soak tea bags in hot water for a minute before plunging them into ice water for a few seconds. Lie down and apply them directly to your eyes for 15 minutes.

9. Smooth Imperfections

Keep makeup outside the lines

To be sure there's no excess makeup to settle into—and emphasize—the fine lines around your eyes and mouth, Ahnert suggests using a dry makeup sponge to gently smooth and blend makeup after applying it. Don't wipe, though, or you'll rub it off.

10. Give Eyes a Lift

Curl lashes correctly

When lashes are clean and dry (wet ones won't hold a curl), position the curler at the root of lashes and give three firm, gentle pumps. Release and repeat. "Holding it steady doesn't create a natural-looking, fluid curl," says Liebeskind.

Create a long-lasting curl

Heat your curler with your blow-dryer for 15 seconds first. "The warmth holds the bend better," says NYC-based makeup artist Mally Roncal.

***Using anti-ageing creams***

Using anti-ageing creams

Everyone's skin ages depending on their genes and lifestyle. However sun exposure accelerates the signs of ageing such as dryness, wrinkles and skin growths like liver spots (keratoses). That's why your face, neck, hands and forearms are areas that age the fastest. Other factors that accelerate ageing are smoking, air pollution (ozone depletes the vitamin E from the skin), and rapid weight loss.

Fine surface lines can be treated with anti-ageing treatments, but deeper creases require more aggressive techniques, such as injecting fillers.

Anti-ageing creams

Using creams regularly, especially before going to bed, minimises ageing. Pamper and nourish your skin at night because that's the time when blood supply to the skin surface is optimal, increasing cream absorption. Creams prevent moisture loss, assist the skin in absorbing moisture from air and compensate for the natural sebum that may have been lost. The right age to start skincare using simple moisturising creams is 25 years. Use anti-ageing creams only after the age of 35.

Anti-ageing creams work by stimulating the cells to form more fibre for firmness. They contain alpha-hydroxy acids that increase blood supply and realign the collagen to reduce creases. These creams also trap moisture on the skin's surface and prevent it from drying up, especially in dehydrating air-conditioned environments.

The active ingredient in anti-ageing creams is the vitamin-A derived tretinoin. Using it regularly at night reduces fine wrinkles by 30-40 per cent. After using the night creams daily for one year, you can cut down use to two to three times a week. The other ingredients are antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E and beta-carotene.

These creams make the skin sensitive to the sun. To prevent redness and itching, using sun-protection – be it using a hat, umbrella or sunscreen cream or lotion — is a must.

***Removing Acne Scars***

Removing Acne Scars

* Take fresh lemon juice and dip cotton wool in it. Pat your face with this cotton and let it dry. Some people may find the lemon juice irritating. In that case, you can dilute it in some water or rose-water. Let it dry for 15-20 minutes and wash your face with water after that. Do this at least four times a week and you will find considerable change.

* Make a paste with some sandalwood powder and rose-water. Add 2-4 drops of lime juice to it. Apply this paste on your face and neck and let it dry completely. After that, rinse your face with cool water and wipe off the paste with cotton wool. Do this on a regular basis (twice a week) to get good results.

* Apply cucumber juice on your face with cotton wool. In summers, you can do this almost daily, as it helps cool off the skin and tightens the pores as well. Cucumber juice is very helpful is making your skin glow and make it feel fresh.

* A popular homemade remedy for removing acne marks is to make a paste of apple and honey. Make the apple paste first and then add 4-6 drops of honey. Apply this mask on your face. Wash off after 15 minutes. This will tighten pores and make your complexion light.

* Another effective way to get rid of acne marks would be to use baking soda. Take a small amount of baking soda and mix it with water, allowing it to foam. Now, rub it in the pigmented area in circular motions, before rinsing it off with water. The abrasive quality of baking soda helps in exfoliating pigmented cells.

* Camphor powder, when mixed with coconut oil, is found effective in treating acne marks. Apply the paste on the acne scars and wait for a few minutes, before washing it off.

* A mixture of tea tree oil and almond oil is also found effective in treating acne scars. It unclogs the pores, thereby reducing the pigmentation associated with acne.

* A natural way to get rid of acne marks would be to smear fruit pulp on the acne region and leave it for about 20 minutes. The fruit acid and collagen present in the pulp would help treat acne. Pulp of papaya, orange and pineapple are also great for the purpose.

***Natural Ways to Lighten Your Skin***

Natural Ways to Lighten Your Skin

Use Sunblock

One of the easiest ways to stay fair is to use sunblock on a daily basis. Find a moisturizer that includes an SPF of 15 or higher and use it every morning after washing your face. Sunblock not only prevents your skin from getting darker, but also blocks harmful UV rays that can cause cancer and premature aging. Remember your hands when applying sunblock, as they are a prime area for age spots.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating once a week will remove dead skin cells to lighten and brighten your skin. Mix two tablespoons oatmeal and two tablespoons brown sugar with a quarter cup of milk, and stir until a paste forms. Gently scrub your face, rinse, and moisturize.

Make a Mask

A homemade mask is a great way to lighten your skin and a good excuse to kick back on the couch. Try using one once a week. Use one tablespoon of each of the following: sandalwood paste, lemon juice, tomato juice, and cucumber juice. Mix them all together to form a paste. Spread the mixture on your face and wait until it dries. Rinse and moisturize for a natural glow.

Licorice Extract

Licorice extract contains glabridin, a component that acts as a natural skin whitener. Apply a thin layer of the extract morning and evening, after you wash your face and before you moisturize. Licorice extract can be found at any health food store or ordered online. Be sure to store the bottle in a cool, dark place to maintain freshness. Note: test a small amount on the back of your arm before using on your face to be sure you do not have an allergic reaction.

***Easy Eye Makeup Tips***

Easy Eye Makeup Tips

Many of us realize that the eyes are the most essential part of the make up of the face. They are a window into just who we are.

Your eye makeup is perhaps the most important part of your overall look. Eyes get attention, draw people in, and communicate a great deal about you before you say a word. But, if done poorly, eye makeup can be the first clue that you are wearing too much makeup, or are simply trying too hard. The trick is knowing when and where to use different eye makeup looks.

Remember, practice makes perfect. Spend an afternoon or evening in playing with makeup; don’t try to create a brand-new look thirty minutes before a hot party. Practice applying eye makeup tricks until you can do it with a steady hand.

Some Easy Eye Makeup Tips

* Start with a freshly exfoliated face.
* To hide under eye dark circles, select a cosmetic under eye concealer of a good brand.
* Make sure that it is one shade lighter than the foundation you are using.
* Place three dots of concealer under each eye.
* Start at the inner corner where the skin is darkest, on under the pupil and on the outer edge.
* Strike with your ring finger until the dots disappear and blend into the skin.
* Generally, avoid concealers with and oil base as they tend to settle into the fine lines under your eyes and draw attention to the circles.

Apply Eye Shadow

* Eye shadows are used to enhance the charm of your eyes and are an all-time favorite make-up accessory. They can be powdered, matted or semi matted. You need to make sure that the eye shadow you select enhances your eyes instead of dominating them.
* If your eyes are too close together, apply the shadow from the centre of the eye lid towards the outside.
* If the eyes are in a hollow, apply the shadow on the whole eye lid as far as the underside of the eyebrow and then shade it off with the finger.
* If fine lines surround your eyes, shade off the shadow towards the outside of the eyelid.
* Apply a little shadow beneath the eyes along the lower lash line to give your eyes a subtle glamorous look.
* If you are using two colors, start with the lighter shade from the inner corner of the eye covering the lid and below the brow bone.
* Build on this with a darker color in the crease, from the centre and brush till the end of the eyebrow.

Apply Eyeliner

* A thin line of eyeliner is the perfect way to give a new definition to your eyes.
* Liquid eyeliners work well with most eyes. Draw a line across the upper lid just above the lashes starting from the inner corner to the other.
* Remember, liquid liner has to be applied in one smooth stroke.
* Dark eye shadows work great as eye liners. However, the eyeliner pencil is definitely the easiest to use and has the most natural effect, but it does not last long.
* Highlighting the Brow Bone
* Dab a little highlighter on your brow bone, concentrating on your mid brow.
* Gently smudge with a finger.
* To lift your eyes and for creating a bright effect, you can choose shimmer white or pale gold as they are in vogue.

Apply Mascara

* The final step is to apply mascara that will prep your eyes with flaps of thick, long eyelashes.
* Coat lashes with the mascara wand from the very base of the upper eye lashes to the tips with full strokes.
* Hold the wand vertically while applying mascara to the lower lashes, running it from side to side.
* Apply a thin coat first and wait until it dries up completely, then build up with a second coat.
* When applying mascara to the lower lashes, gently brush the tip of the applicator across them as it gives your eyes a wider look.
* You may opt for mascaras that contain ingredients for nourishing the eyelashes.

Note

* You may look exceptionally good after this. Do not be alarmed if you get extra attention.
* Get a trusted person to tell you if you’ve gone overboard with the make-up.

*** Six Hair Removal Methods for Women***

Six Hair Removal Methods for Women

The desire to remove excess or dark hair usually begins in adolescence and seems to continue until the day we die. Whether it is hair on the face, armpits, legs, bikini line, or other body parts, many women and men are intent upon having the hair on their scalp be the only visible hair on their bodies. With the emphasis on smooth, hairless skin, it is interesting to note that excess hair, especially in women, is still a taboo subject.

There are many options available to remove unwanted hair, but few options to get rid of hair permanently. The different methods of hair removal from the old stand-by, shaving, to the new treatments, lasers and vaniqa, are discussed here. Each person should chose a method or combination of methods that works best for them depending on cost, time available, skin type, and the desired hair-free area.

Six Hair Removal Methods for Women:

1. Men’s hair removal products work better and are more affordable: Men’s shaving creams are richer, and better for the skin and are usually at least $1 cheaper than products designed for women. You’ll get a closer shave and have softer legs if you use these. Men’s razors are less expensive than women’s.

2. Chemical hair removers are trickier than you think: Do an allergy test before you use these. And if you are using them on the upper lip or bikini area, please make sure you test them on a less sensitive area of skin before putting them on your face or bikini area. Any chemical can cause a severe skin irritation. Also, if your bathroom doesn’t have a window, find somewhere else to apply the product, because they have a very strong odor.

3. At home waxing can work: Most people have a hard time inflicting pain on themselves. And if you don’t rip off the wax fast enough, the hair and the wax will stay on you and it will hurt anyway. It’s best to limit home waxing to legs and arms. Be sure always to use heated wax products. There are ones that don’t require heating, but the simple fact is, they just don’t work as well. And that’s if you can stand the pain of waxing in the first place.

4. Consider bleaching, but not where you think: Sometimes you have dark hair in places you don’t want, but the area could look odd if it were totally hairless, for example your arms. Consider bleaching products for these areas. When it comes to the face though, bleached facial hair may not be visible, but it will make your lipstick look imperfect.

5. Tweezing isn’t just for eyebrows: With the help of a trusty pair of tweezers, (the sharper, the better), pluck away at the hairs you want to eliminate. In fact, it can be used for cleanup anywhere. That is if you have the time to individually puck each hair.

6. Skincare: Applications of olive oil or talc, (not both), can also soothe women’s skin irritated from hair removal. Be sure not to apply alcohol based perfumes to recently shaved areas. It will irritate them and cause redness, swelling and bumps. Shaving back and forth both against and towards the hair growth direction provides a closer shave and helps to exfoliate, allowing for fewer ingrown hairs.

*** Facial hair ***

Facial hair

It's bad enough when you have a lot of hair on your body, but the most annoying is when you have a thick growth of hair on the face.

Many women over the years have tried all kinds of treatments to get rid of facial hair. 12-year-old Latha tried to scrub off her moustache with a towel, with the result that her entire upper lip turned raw and started bleeding. Sandra has been shaving her entire face for 4 years, and now she needs to shave it every day or she will develop a stubble! 23-year-old Sneha tried to scrub off her sideburns with a pumice stone, and the next day, she had thick scarring where her sideburns used to be.

There are millions such stories of women struggling to cope with facial hair. If you too are one of the numerous women with the same problem, realize that you are not alone in this, and that there is a lot you can do without resorting to drastic means.

Threading

Thread the hair on your upper lip and chin. Read this article for step-by-step instructions to threading. Threading will help you remove even the tiniest and finest of hair, whereas, if you wax, you will need to wait for hair to grow before you can wax it off again.

If you don't have a lot of hair on the chin, instead of threading, selectively pluck just the thick hair. Don't get tempted to pluck fine hair, because it will grow back thicker. Also, thread your eyebrows, but you may want to leave this to professionals. Don't try threading your brows yourself unless you are skilled in threading, because you may mess up the shape. If you have a lot of hair on your forehead, you could thread it when you are doing your eyebrows. Don't thread your forehead if you are prone to developing pimples on this area. Bleaching would be a better solution.

If you don't live in India, and don't have easy access to someone who can thread your eyebrows, pluck them regularly, or get them waxed by a beautician.

Waxing

It is not very feasible to wax your entire face. You could, however, wax your sideburns. Fortunately, sideburns take a while to grow back, and over time, with regular waxing, the growth will reduce. However, be careful to ensure that you don't wax off very fine hair when waxing the sideburns. Wax only the very thickest portion of the sideburns, so the fine hair doesn't grow back thicker or gradually you will need to wax your cheeks as well.

So now you have tackled the main problem areas, which are the upper lip, chin, sideburns and eyebrows. If you have a lot of hair on your cheeks as well, instead of waxing such a large portion of your face, simply apply bleach to your entire face. If you bleach sideburns that are very hairy, blonde hair is often clearly visible. However, now that you have waxed off the hairiest part of your sideburns, bleach your entire face. Your face will look clean, fresh and free of hair
